Growing up can be a magical experience
Growing
up in Tsawwassen, population 7150, is like growing up in any small town
- unless you’re a member of the Delta Riding Club, whose members
are visited nightly in their dreams by animated magical guardian horses.
For years,
Mickey has dreamt of these galloping guardians and kept them as her
secret. But the arrival of the mysterious Cord, the stable’s new
blacksmith, has seemed to trigger an abundance of visits from the curious
Night Mares prompting Mickey to share her secret with Delta’s
aging Blacksmith. Cord knows of the legend from long ago. His sixty
year old body and ancient soul is aware of the Night Mares longing to
return to the magical plains of Tsawwassen. Hunted for their mystical
powers the Night Mares fled from Hunters off the ancient cliffs and
have forever since enchanted the night sky.
The three
Night Mares hope one day to return to earth if enough children believe
in them. From the constellation of Pegasus they guide and empower the
dreaming Tsawwassen teens and help them to face the challenges of growing
up.
For the
Delta Riding Club members, Mickey, Hunter, Holly, Frankie and Norman,
it’s the awkward days of self-discovery, self-expression and self-
doubt. They are trapped between leaving childhood and entering the teenage
years. That’s enough for any kid to handle; but the Delta kids
have the added responsibility of whether to believe in their new nocturnal
nickering friends, who they can trust with this secret, and the growing
knowledge that they have the power to bring the magical equine angels
back to earth. As they share the anxious moments of first jobs, first
kisses and first loves they also face serious life issues such as prejudice,
abuse and loss. Wild Hearts explores both the carefree
and dangerous situations children and animals share.
Wild
Hearts and the Night Mares give the viewer something to believe
in. And you don’t have to be a child to believe in them; you just
have to open your heart to their magic. They will take away your nightmares,
if you help their dreams come true.
