The Legend of the No More Night Mares...
The "No More Night Mares" 14" Light-Up Plush Horse Toys
The company originally launched the
"No More
Night Mares" product line in 1998 and is bringing it back based on
retailer and consumer demand. The plush line is based on an original
legend about a mythical herd of mares that escapes man by fleeing
into the sky and becoming stars in the Pegasus constellation, where
they fulfill a destiny to light up the night sky. The legend is
being published as a children's book full of illustrations lent by
well-known equine artist, Kim McElroy. A lifelong horse lover, Kim
McElroy is known for portraying the emotional, spiritual, and
dynamic presence of these magnificent creatures and offers us a
timeless glimpse of its soul. More of Kim's artwork can be viewed on
her website,
www.spiritofhorse.com Re-launching the line comes at a critical point in wild horse history following a new amendment to the 1971 Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act. The company hopes to help build further awareness for the plight of wild horses through the "No More Night Mares" line of plush and books, as well as through its interactive, website, www.WildHeartRanch.com. The amendment allows for the sale of wild horses to foreign markets, if the horse is over the age of 10, or if younger, then after they have unsuccessfully been offered for adoption three times. These sales may potentially result in the use of these animals for meat. Wild horse advocates are currently lobbying to get the bill reversed. To learn more, please visit some of the recent news at http://www.wildheartranch.com/kidsclub/kc_endangeredAnimalNews.asp#wh Book Excerpt: "A long time has passed since the days of Eclipse and his wild herd. The once plentiful wild herds have since vanished form the plains, now living as small scattered herds in refuge, or hiding in the outback. The history of wild horses alongside man has both defied and threatened their extinction. Man has been both a horse's best friend and his most brutal foe. But the legacy of man and horse continues. as it always will. They gallop through our dreams to carry us to the stars. They stir the tamest imagination and comfort even the wildest hearts."
