Congress may again protect adopted wild
horses

Congress is being urged to reverse an obscure but recent law that allows
for wild horses adopted from public land to be legally sold to slaughter
houses for food overseas.
Two bills being considered on Capitol Hill would restore the prohibition
of commercial sale and slaughter of wild horses and burros: The
Rahall/Whitfield Amendment in the House and the S576 Amendment in the
Senate, which is supported by Sen. Robert Byrd, R-W.Va.
